About the University

University of Bedfordshire, founded in 1908, is a large modern, national comprehensive university in Luton, north London, formerly known as Luton University. It merged with Bedford Campus of De Montfort University in August 2006, and was renamed University of Bedfordshire. In the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2018-19, it ranked 67th in the UK and 601-800 in the world.

The university has offered 40 years of undergraduate degree programs. Currently, it has six campuses, four colleges and nine research institutes, with a variety of disciplines at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. There are about 20,000 students, including nearly 3,000 international students, which make University of Bedfordshire an international university with diverse culture. In July 2011, the university was awarded the “Queen’s Awards for Enterprise”, which recognizes enterprises that have made outstanding achievements in international trade, innovation and sustainable development. In 2013, it won the “Queen’s Annals Award”, the highest national award for UK universities. The university is now building a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) building, and constantly improving its teaching, services and campus construction.

University of Betfordshire is located in the heart of the academic golden triangle of London, Oxford and Cambridge. Its main campus, Luton Campus, is 30 miles north of London, and second campus, Bedford Campus, is 50 miles north of London. The university is easily accessible and only 22 minutes by train to London. There is a convenient shopping mall, regional sports center and London Luton Airport aound it.
