About the University

University of Portsmouth, founded in 1869, has been awarded bachelor’s degrees since 1900. It became a comprehensive university in 1992, and has developed into one of the largest universities in the UK. Currently, it has more than 25,000 students, including more than 4,000 international students from over 150 countries and regions.

The university ranked 25th in the Guardian University Guide 2019, among the top 100 in the Emerging Economies University Rankings 2017, and among the top 10 in the Emerging Economies University Rankings 2016. It received a “Gold” rating in the 2017 UK Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) together with University of Oxford and University of Cambridge, and was named byThe Economistas the “Best UK University to Raise Graduates’ Salary” in the same year.
