■ About the University

Founded in 1828, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is a public university with a history of over one hundred years. It ranked 76th in the Guardian University Guide 2019. Its mission is to provide the best facilities, teaching and services to help students succeed.

UCLan’s international business and media have a long history and are highly recognized. The university maintains close cooperation with multinational groups such as the Disney Group, the BBC and the Marriott Group, which offer a large number of internship opportunities for its students. It is the first university in the UK to offer a undergraduate degree in journalism, which has been taught for more than 50 years. Its journalism major is among the best in the UK, and boasts 22 points (out of 24 points) rated by the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

■ About Preston

The university’s main campus is located in downtown Preston, Lancashire. With a population of around 150,000, Preston is one of the most beloved cities in North England, whose long history dates back to 1179. Preston has easy access to public transportation. It is 2 hours by train from London and 40 minutes by train from Liverpool and Manchester. There are three large parks near the university. It takes only 30 minutes from the waterfront, and 1 hour from the beautiful Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
