■ About the University

Founded in 1964, Lancaster University (LU) is a world-renowned top research university. It is home to internationally acclaimed Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), which is known for accounting and finance and has a custodian brand of marketing. LU follows the collegiate system, just as University of Oxford and Cambridge University do. It has 200 affiliated societies for students and regularly hosts a wide range of activities, and boasts a whole range of disciplines and a wealth of facilities. Learning centers, sports centers, restaurants, supermarket, bank, post office, hospital and travel agency in the campus, which covers a total area of 360 acres, fully meet the learning and living needs of students. According to a survey of on-campus accommodation, LU has won the “Best Student Accommodation Award” for seven times in the past eight years.

LU enjoys a good academic reputation and has ranked among the top 10 in the UK for many years. It won the TEF Gold award with the highest score in the 2017 Teaching Excellence Program (TEF), and was named “University of the Year for 2018” by the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide. The university ranked 9th in the Guardian University League Table 2018 and 7th in the CUG. Across the UK, its media ranks second, accounting and finance ranks third, and business research ranks fourth.

LU islocated in thehistoriccityof Lancaster in the north of England. Lancaster has convenient road and rail connection. It takes only about an hour from Lancaster to Manchester by train, about an hour and a half from to Liverpool by train, and three hours to London. The university is adjacent to the world-famous Lake District National Park, which attracts a large number of tourists every year.
