From December 7 to 9, 2018, the Center for Foreign Language Training of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) held the Meeting on Training Institutions in Different Locations for Personnel Studying Abroad Funded by the Ministry of Education. Attendees included: representatives from Fujian Normal University (Office Director Lin Xiyun of the Teacher Training Center of Fujian Provincial Colleges and Universities), Hubei University (Vice-Dean He Zhaoqing, teacher Wu Xin of the Teacher Training Center of Fujian Provincial Colleges and Universities), and Jiangxi Normal University (Vice-Dean Rao Wenhua, Section Chief Xie Qin and teacher Liu Xiaolan of College of Continuing Education and Jiangxi Foreign Language Training Center), as well as Party Secretary Zhong Luojun, Dean Liang Xuehong, Vice Dean Ren Yuezhong, Director Wang Yongqi of the Teaching and Research Office, and Office Director Lian Yong of the Center for Foreign Language Training, GDUFS. The meeting was chaired by Vice Dean Yang Wenhui.
The meeting
Party Secretary Zhong Luojun firstly addressed, “This program reflects the concern of the Ministry of Education for university teachers who have the intention of visiting abroad. It solves problems of foreign language learning, time and region restraints. Training in China not only allows teachers to continue to work in their university, but also saves a series of costs such as transportation and accommodation outside of training. It is a win-win training method.”
Address by Party Secretary Zhong Luojun
Representatives of each training institution summarized the training work in 2017-2018, analyzed the problems existing in the work, and introduced their work ideas for the next phase. Following that, Vice Dean Yang Wenhui briefed them on the tasks of the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in 2019 and conveyed the spirit of the Annual Meeting of the Center for Foreign Language Training. At the meeting, the adjustment of credit hours in the cooperation agreement, training courses, training time, pre-exam training hours and other issues were also discussed.
